A traditional Devon seaside resort and even comes with its own Victorian pier. Set at the mouth of the sheltered Teign estuary the area is popular with kayakers. Home to two beaches: Town Beach and Back (or River) Beach. Town Beach with its promenade, Victorian Grand Pier and expanse of golden sand takes one back to years gone by. Lovely family beach. Spot dolphins out to sea if you are lucky. Back Beach, on the estuary side of the town, is charming and a great place to relax and watch the boats and general fishing activity. The view up the river Teign, especially at sunset is wonderful. Take a passenger ferry across to Shaldon.
