A sand and shingle bay across Plymouth Sound from the Barbican and Hoe. Good rockpools. There is a water taxi all year round from the Barbican Pontoon to Mount Batten. By car you have to go via Plymstock. Wonderful views across the sound to Drake’s Island and beyond. Access to the beach is via wooden steps and not suitable for wheelchairs.

NEWS: Following the discovery of asbestos on the beach has been closed to the public. ¬†Work is currently in operation to remove the material which is described as containing “low grade, low risk asbestos”. It is not known as yet when it will reopen.
