At the mouth of the River Teign, opposite Teignmouth, Shaldon is a must for those who enjoy messing about on the water’s edge. With its mixture of sand and shingle, it is a hive of activity with sailing, fishing, swimming, canoeing and rowing. A lovely family beach with amenities to hand and disabled access. Do however be careful not to swim too far out as there are strong tidal currents. Don’t miss the Water Carnival in early August and the Regatta at the end of August – said to be one of the oldest in the country.
